Description:
The 411 Seniors Centre is a multicultural, proactive day centre for seniors, offering information and referral, social, recreational and educational activities, resource centres, a cafeteria, thrift, gift and book stores and volunteer opportunities. The Information and Referral Department is staffed by trained senior volunteer counsellors, who assist around 400 seniors per month with a broad range of services and referrals to information and government benefits. Counsellors are available during scheduled times to speak with seniors in several languages. The Centre strives to be an inclusive, multicultural, anti-racist environment and provides integrated multicultural services and resources, including multilingual counsellors, a multicultural resource library, English as Second Language Classes, multilingual brochures and ethnocultural social groups. The 411 has also engaged in a number of multicultural projects and is proud to have been able to design and produce this Multicultural Resources Database with funding from the British Columbia Ministry Responsible for Anti-Racism and Multiculturalism. If you would like your organization's information included in this database and on our website, please write or call the Centre.
